The Breakdown

Display

Samsung's 8.0-inch inner AMOLED 2X hits a blinding 2,600 nits — the brightest foldable screen ever made. The crease is nearly invisible on the Fold 7. The OnePlus Open 2 counters with a gorgeous LTPO panel and the thinnest crease of the three. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is solid but unremarkable — Google plays it safe with display specs.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Fold 7 and Open 2 is a beast — 40% faster GPU than Gen 3 and industry-leading AI processing. Google's Tensor G5 simply cannot compete on raw compute, though it excels at on-device AI tasks like photo processing and real-time translation. For gaming and sustained performance, Samsung and OnePlus win convincingly.

Camera

The OnePlus Open 2 has the best camera system of any foldable — period. A 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultrawide, and 64MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom outshoot both competitors. Samsung's 200MP main sensor grabs headlines but the 12MP ultrawide and 10MP tele are middling. Google's 48MP system is good but constrained by hardware limitations.

Battery & Charging

The OnePlus Open 2 demolishes the competition here. A 5,700 mAh battery with 100W wired charging means 0 to 100% in under 30 minutes. Samsung's 4,400 mAh with pathetic 25W charging is embarrassing at $2,000. Google's 5,015 mAh with 30W charging is respectable but can't touch OnePlus speeds.

Durability

Samsung brings IPX8 water resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 3 — the most ruggedized foldable available. Google matches with IP68 dust and water resistance. The OnePlus Open 2 has a vegan leather option that feels premium but only manages IPX4 — a meaningful gap if you're near water.

Value

At $1,650, the OnePlus Open 2 delivers Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 performance, the best foldable camera, the biggest battery, and the fastest charging — for $350 less than Samsung. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold at $1,799 offers 7 years of updates but weaker hardware. Samsung charges $2,000 and still ships 25W charging.

The Verdict

The Winner
O

OnePlus Open 2

The OnePlus Open 2 gives you everything the Fold 7 has — plus a bigger battery, faster charging, and better cameras — for $350 less.

The OnePlus Open 2 wins because it exposes Samsung's pricing as indefensible. For $1,650, you get the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, the best camera system on any foldable phone, a 5,700 mAh battery that charges to full in under 30 minutes, and a crease so thin you forget the phone folds. Samsung charges $2,000 and still ships 25W charging — in 2026, that is genuinely insulting. The build quality gap has closed. The software gap has closed. The camera gap now favors OnePlus. What Samsung still has is brand trust, IP68 durability, and the S Pen ecosystem. For everyone else — and that is most people — the Open 2 is the smarter buy by a wide margin.

But consider:Consider the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 if water resistance and Samsung DeX desktop mode are non-negotiable — IPX8 versus IPX4 is a real gap, and DeX remains the best mobile-to-desktop experience.
